OpenStreetMap embed for a business website
OpenStreetMap data is free to use, with credit to OpenStreetMap. Its own tile servers run on donations, with limited capacity and no service guarantee, and OSM points sites that can’t meet its tile policy to other OSM-based services. DoMaps is built on OSM data, in your colors, with the credit shown for you.
What OpenStreetMap’s tile usage policy says
- The data is free for everyone. The tile servers are funded by donations and sponsorship, and capacity is limited.1
- There is no SLA or guarantee. Access may be blocked without notice if usage degrades the service.1
- Commercial services are warned that access may be withdrawn at any point, and with it the service to their customers.1
- Bulk downloading and offline use are not permitted. Sites that can’t meet the policy should use another OSM-based service or run their own.1

Your options
The openstreetmap.org Share embed
- The Share panel gives you an HTML snippet with the map in an iframe. It uses the tile servers above.4
Leaflet with a tile provider
- Leaflet works with any tile provider. Its guide says to read the OSM Tile Usage Policy before using OSM tiles in production.5
A hosted OSM-based service
- OpenFreeMap serves OSM-based tiles with no registration, no API keys and no cookies.6
- The tile usage policy links lists of other hosted and commercial OSM-based tile services.1
DoMaps
- OpenStreetMap data with tiles from OpenFreeMap, styled from your site’s colors.
- The OpenStreetMap credit shows on the map automatically.
- One iframe, under 3 minutes, no account or API key.
The DoMaps way

Questions
Is OpenStreetMap data free for business use?
Yes, under the Open Database License. You must credit OpenStreetMap and its contributors, and share changes to the data under the same license if you distribute them.
Can I hide the OpenStreetMap credit?
OpenStreetMap’s attribution guidelines allow it to collapse after the visitor interacts with the map or after five seconds, if an info button keeps it reachable.
Does DoMaps use tile.openstreetmap.org?
No. DoMaps loads its tiles from OpenFreeMap, which serves OSM-based tiles.
